Bus and train
By train
Stuttgart Central Station is centrally located in the city centre and is connected to the long-distance rail network to Germany and neighbouring countries. From there, the S-Bahn lines S2 and S3 take you directly to the airport every 15 minutes. The journey takes around 25 to 30 minutes.
The U6 light rail line also runs to the airport. During core times, it runs every 10 minutes and stops at the "Flughafen/Messe" stop. From there it is about a 5-minute walk to the terminals.
By bus
The Stuttgart Airport Bus Terminal (SAB) is located directly between Flughafenstraße and Terminal 4 - under car park P14. Regional and national bus routes as well as express connections, long-distance buses and a night bus start and end here.
Bus platforms 1 to 3 are intended for local and regional transport. Bus platforms 4 to 18 are used by national and international long-distance buses as well as occasional services.
Good to know: The night bus route N8 connects the airport with the city centre - early in the morning and late at night. The bus departs from Schlossplatz at 3.40 a.m. and reaches Stuttgart Airport in around 40 minutes.
Buying tickets for bus and train
Tickets for the S-Bahn, light rail and regional buses are available from the ticket machines in the terminals. Alternative: simply buy online via the apps of the respective providers.
Long-distance bus tickets are available online via the websites of the transport companies - or directly on site at the Stuttgart Airport Bus Terminal, at the Gotowala travel agency and at the Deutsche Touring office (Eurolines) at the SAB Bus Terminal.
