Bees at the airport

Since 2012, Stuttgart Airport has been using bees on its site for biomonitoring. An analysis of the honey provides insights into pesticide residues on flowers and pollen within a radius of three to five kilometres – which is the average flight radius of these tiny flyers.

Hy4 inaugural flight at STR

The best impressions of the world premiere of Hy4's first flight with shots from Stuttgart Airport and the German Aerospace Center (DLR). The facts about the pilot project from the German Aerospace Center (DLR): The Hy4 reaches a top speed of around 200 km/h and flies at an average speed of 145 km/h. This is made possible by an electric motor. This is made possible by an electric motor with an output of 80 kilowatts. Depending on speed, altitude and payload, the aircraft can cover a distance of 750 to 1,500 kilometres, with a maximum weight of 1,500 kilograms.
