Important: Supporting documents for the security clearance application
Since 1 January 2021, evidence of employment over the last five years must be submitted with the application – ideally in German. Alternatively, evidence in English is accepted. For all other languages, a certified translation is required (as with the translation of criminal record certificates). The periods of employment must be specified with exact start and end dates.
Examples of supporting documents depending on previous type of employment:
- School education: school reports or certificates
- Higher education: Certificate of enrolment
- Employment: company certificates, payslips, social security statements or detailed health insurance records
- Jobseeker: Proof from the Federal Employment Agency
Alternative: Organisations may use the participation procedure and carry out the verification of supporting documents themselves. In this case, the employer confirms that all supporting documents have been collected in full, checked and assessed as plausible. Missing documents may be replaced by documented interviews.
The supporting documents must be available for presentation at short notice upon request by the Aviation Security Authority.
